Concentration Piece #1

This is my completed first concentration piece for the concentration series. I chose to do my series on hands because hands have a lot of meaning to me. I guess you could say they go full-circle. While they represent warmth, love, compassion, and gentleness, they can also mean to me feelings and emotions of power, strength, and uneasiness. There is just so much you can do with two hands. This is why I chose to do my concentration series on hands. In this piece, there is a big hand and a smaller hand, perhaps a child's hand. To me as the artist, this piece could mean a parent and child relationship or just a feeling of love and looking up to someone for guidance. As the smaller hand is somewhat outstretched, I think it is fair to say that the child figure in this artwork could maybe be looking for guidance, like when you hold your parent's hand when you cross the street when you're a little kid. It just gives you security, that they won't let go, that you have someone to hold onto. Now I'm not sure if all of this would get across to the viewer by what I created, or maybe the viewer would have a completely different interpretation, who knows? However, I put a lot of thought behind this piece and therefore, I am proud of what I created and the meaning behind it. The principles and elements I used are color, shape, form, line,  and proportion.
