Heart and Soul
This is my Heart and Soul project. I drew a zebra with markers with lots of rainbow stripes and you said it reminded you of the stripe gum. I used lots of color and lines and I just wanted to create something fun that made your eyes move across the page. I think I accomplished that. I personally feel that I did a good job on the lines inside the zebra, that although they are rainbow, which is not normal for a zebra obviously, they are still realistic as far as the shape they are in. I think this is a fun piece which is all I was going for so I think I did a good job. If I were to give this artwork a art style, I think it could be argued as either pop art or surrealism because it has components of pop art because of its extremely bright, rainbow colors and its minimalistic approach. It also has elements of surrealism, however, because it is a zebra, which is an animal that is black and white, but I drew it with rainbow stripes, causing it to be recognizable as a real animal, but not in its typical state, which is how surrealism is normally described. The principles and elements of design I used in this piece are definitely color, line, shape, form, movement, rhythm, balance, and unity(from the background to the foreground). 👍
